New Form Question Types: Rich Text and Date

We've added two new question types to the form builder. You'll find both in the Text and Numbers group of the elements list, ready to drag onto any form.

Rich Text

Long answer questions only ever gave people a plain text box, so everything came back as one unformatted block. Rich Text gives them a real editor instead, with formatting like bold, italics, lists and links. Answers keep their formatting when you review the submission, so a list still looks like a list.

You can mark it required, restrict it to office use only, set a background colour, and control it with conditional logic, just like any other question.

Date

Date & Time always asked for a time, even when the time didn't matter, so people picked something arbitrary and you stored a time you never wanted. The new Date question asks for the date and nothing else. Date & Time hasn't changed and is still there when you need both.

Use cases

  • Grant descriptions and event proposals: Rich Text, so applicants can use headings and bullet points instead of a wall of text.

  • Incident reports: Rich Text, so a sequence of events is readable at a glance.

  • Meeting notes and action items: Rich Text, so decisions stand out.

  • Date of birth: Date, no time to pick.

  • Start dates, deadlines and expiry dates: Date, since the day is the answer.

  • Event start times and appointment slots: Date & Time, where the time genuinely matters.

Both elements are available on your instance now. Head over to the form creation wizard to start using them!
