FIFO Selection Limit for Likert Scale

I want the Likert Scale field to have a FIFO (First-In-First-Out) behavior when a selection limit is set. Currently, if a user selects more than the limit, it just errors. I want it to automatically erase the oldest selection so they can keep picking new ones without manually deselecting. This is for a union activity where students select 3 preferences.
